Committee Handovers
What is a Committee Handover? Why is it Important?
A Committee Handover is a piece of documentation that your new committee can refer to for their year ahead. A handover typically includes guidance on your role within your student group, historical information about your committee which may be useful to know, and projects that you may have started as a committee but needs to be completed by the new committee.
As stated in our Elections, Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings page, it is best to meet up in person to chat through this document with the new committee, so that you can answer any further questions that this group may have.
If you have not been able to gather any interest at your AGM, and have no committee to hand over to, your activity will need to be put up for adoption. It is still extremely valuable to write a handover, because if this activity gets picked up again then the new committee have written advice from your committee, and the support needed to restart the group.

Below, we have provided templates for signatories to use to write their handover. Ensure that you make a copy of the relevant template and adapt this to how your group/ role functions!
'Adopt an Activity' Handovers
If your group is about to be put up for adoption, it is extremely important that you write a handover, so that when students adopt the group, they can see where your committee left the group.
It is a good idea to save your handover in your group's drive, in a specific folder labelled 'Committee Handovers'. This will make it easy for the committee taking over to have a starting point and to have written, permanent guidance.
